For this 2014 album, guitarist and composer Bill Frisell mines the catalog of guitar-based music from the 1950s and '60s that first inspired him to pick up the instrument. Joined by his working trio of bassist Tony Scherr and drummer Kenny Wollesen, plus pedal-steel master Greg Leisz, he reinterprets music by Pete Seeger, the Byrds, Junior Wells, Dick Dale, the Ventures, Chet Atkins, Merle Travis and others, with a few originals sprinkled in. It is a rare and affectionate look into Frisell's formative influences.
