Smooth sampled "Our Generation" on their 1992 hit "Straighten It Out" (and John Legend and The Roots covered it in 2010), 1972's Electrified has been one of the most collectible soul releases of its era. "Our Generation" is a masterpiece of socially conscious, gospel-inflected '70s soul, and the rest of the record — highlights include "Sugar Plum (Gimme Some)," "Your Love (Is All I Need)," and the original "Explain It to Her Mama" — holds to that high standard. Cut all-analog from the original two-track master tape.
