2024 Remaster LP — Gang of Four's Third Album, Remastered at Abbey Road

Formed in Leeds in 1976, Gang of Four pioneered a style that inverted punk's blunt energies in favor of tense rhythms, percussive guitars, and lyrics steeped in Marxist theory and situationism. Songs of the Free was their third album, the first with bassist Sara Lee following Dave Allen's departure, and it includes the live favorite "Call Me Up" and their biggest hit "I Love a Man in Uniform" — banned by the BBC during the Falklands War yet a dancefloor staple in the US. Recorded at Ridge Farm Studios in Surrey, this edition was remastered from the original tapes by Frank Arkwright at Abbey Road with supervision by frontman Jon King.
