LEAK’s first network player — a Silent Angel streaming platform, an ESS Sabre ES9038Q2M DAC, balanced XLR outputs and a headphone amplifier, in matching walnut.

The TruStream arrived in March 2026 as LEAK’s first network player, built to sit alongside the Stereo 130 and Stereo 230 in matching walnut. Its streaming engine comes from Silent Angel, the Thunder Data brand known for low-noise network audio, running a custom build of their platform — but LEAK ships its own branded TruStream app for iOS and Android, so you are not dealing with Silent Angel’s software.

Conversion is by an ESS Sabre ES9038Q2M running to 768kHz/32-bit PCM and DSD512 over the USB-C computer input, with DSD256 over the network via DoP. The measured specification is strong for the price: better than 116dB signal to noise on RCA and better than 120dB on XLR, with distortion under 0.001%.

Connectivity is unusually complete. Balanced XLR outputs as well as RCA, coaxial and optical digital outputs, USB audio out to an external DAC, USB storage, gigabit Ethernet and dual-band Wi-Fi. Streaming runs natively through Spotify Connect, TIDAL Connect, Qobuz Connect and TuneIn, with AirPlay 2 and certified Roon Ready operation including Roon’s Advanced Audio Transport. A dedicated current-feedback headphone amplifier feeds a front-panel quarter-inch jack at a low 2.35 ohm output impedance, which makes it a sensible match for sensitive low-impedance headphones as well as 600-ohm classics.

Two omissions are deliberate and worth knowing before you buy: there is no front-panel display and no Bluetooth. This is an app-driven, network-first product in a walnut-veneered cabinet over an aluminium chassis, styled to sit beside LEAK’s amplifiers rather than to compete on front-panel features.
