The first of three collaborative albums by Marvin Gaye and Tammi Terrell, United was released on August 29, 1967 on the Motown subsidiary Tamla Records. It was the duo's — and Marvin Gaye's — most successful album of the 1960s, with sales approaching one million copies. It yielded four Top 100 Billboard hits, including the Top 10 singles "Your Precious Love" and "If I Could Build My Whole World Around You," and peaked at #69 on the Billboard 200 and #7 on the Billboard R&B albums chart.
