Miles Davis - On the Corner - MFSL LP (With Cosmetic Damage)
(Cover Has Cosmetic Damage) — All Sales Final on This Item
Numbered Limited Edition 180 Gram Vinyl LP, Mastered From the Original Master Tapes
Released in 1972, On the Corner is Miles Davis' funkiest and most controversial record. Heavily inspired by Sly and the Family Stone, it pulls the focus away from improvisation and onto the groove: locked-in bass lines, layered percussion, wah-wah guitar and trance-like repeating motifs.
It was also Davis' first album to use overdubbing and multiple tape machines, with producer Teo Macero shaping the material in the editing room. The result presaged remixing and electronica by more than a decade, and time has been far kinder to it than the jazz press was in 1972.
Mastered from the original master tapes (1/4" / 15 ips analog master to DSD 256 to analog console to lathe) and pressed at RTI, this numbered limited-edition 180g LP brings out the deep bottom end and wide, three-dimensional soundstage the album depends on.
