Tenor saxophonist Clifford Jordan arrived from Chicago in 1957 and quickly made his mark with a trio of Blue Note sessions, of which Cliff Craft is the third. Here he leads a first-rate hard bop quintet featuring Art Farmer on trumpet, Sonny Clark on piano, George Tucker on bass, and Louis Hayes on drums. Side One gathers three Jordan originals, while Side Two tackles classics by Charlie Parker, Dizzy Gillespie, and Duke Ellington, including a show-stopping "Sophisticated Lady." This Classic Vinyl Edition is stereo, all-analog, mastered by Kevin Gray from the original master tapes and pressed on 180g vinyl at Optimal.
