Dollar Brand, Don Cherry & Carlos Ward - The Third World-Underground (1974) - LP

First-Ever International Vinyl Release, Remastered Reissue

The first-ever international vinyl release of the legendary Abdullah Ibrahim (Dollar Brand), Don Cherry and Carlos Ward collaboration, remastered from the cult 1974 Japanese-only pressing. Recorded live in 1972 at Jazzhus Montmartre in Copenhagen, The Third World-Underground blends jazz with rich South African rhythms and global influences: Ibrahim's cyclical piano figures provide the emotional foundation while Cherry and Ward drift, soar and chant in ecstatic unison. Personnel: Dollar Brand (piano, vocal), Don Cherry (trumpet, vocal, percussion), and Carlos Ward (alto sax, vocals, percussion).
