Cornetist Don Cherry's career as a bandleader began with his bold Blue Note debut Complete Communion, recorded in December 1965. Across two extended, side-long suites — "Complete Communion" and "Elephantasy" — Cherry expounds on his expansive musical vision with a quartet of intrepid companions: tenor saxophonist Gato Barbieri, bassist Henry Grimes and drummer Ed Blackwell. This stereo Tone Poet edition was produced by Joe Harley, mastered by Kevin Gray (Cohearent Audio) from the original analog master tapes, pressed on 180g vinyl at RTI, and packaged in a deluxe gatefold tip-on jacket.
