Freddie Roach - Down to Earth - Blue Note Classic Series LP
Blue Note Classic Vinyl Reissue Series — 180g LP, All-Analog, Mastered by Kevin Gray
Bronx-born organist Freddie Roach first reached Blue Note listeners on Ike Quebec's albums before launching his own run of leader dates with this excellent 1962 debut, Down to Earth. The deeply soulful six-song set showcases his nuanced, bluesy sound and his knack for enjoyable originals like "De Bug" and "Althea Soon," performed by a swinging quartet featuring Percy France on tenor sax, Kenny Burrell on guitar, and Clarence Johnston on drums. This Blue Note Classic Vinyl Edition is stereo, all-analog, mastered by Kevin Gray from the original master tapes, and pressed on 180g vinyl at Optimal.
