Grant Green - Solid - Blue Note Classic LP
180g Vinyl, Blue Note Classic Vinyl Reissue Series, All-Analog
In spring 1964, guitarist Grant Green recorded two blazing post-bop albums—Matador and Solid—both of which went unreleased for more than a decade. For Solid, Green expanded to a state-of-the-art sextet, adding tenor saxophonist Joe Henderson and alto saxophonist James Spaulding alongside McCoy Tyner, Bob Cranshaw, and Elvin Jones. The high-octane set burns through Duke Pearson's "Minor League" and George Russell's "Ezz-Thetic," with highlights including Green's "Grant's Tune," the Sonny Rollins blues "Solid," and Henderson's "The Kicker." This Blue Note Classic Vinyl Edition is stereo, all-analog, mastered by Kevin Gray from the original master tapes, and pressed on 180g vinyl at Optimal.
