Recorded in 1957 but kept in the vaults until 1984, Curtain Call captures tenor saxophonist Hank Mobley in the midst of a remarkably prolific year. This highly enjoyable six-song set — four Mobley originals plus two standards — features a quintet with Kenny Dorham (trumpet), Sonny Clark (piano), Jimmy Rowser (bass) and Art Taylor (drums). Part of Blue Note's acclaimed Tone Poet Series, mastered all-analog from the original master tapes by Kevin Gray and pressed at RTI.
