The Blue Note Tone Poet Series, curated by Joe Harley, presents all-analog audiophile reissues from the Blue Note family of labels. On 1970's Asante, pianist McCoy Tyner brought his deepening African influences to the fore with a powerful set rooted in the percussive rhythmic bed of drummer Billy Hart and percussionist Mtume. Bassist Buster Williams, guitarist Ted Dunbar, and alto saxophonist Andrew White round out the ensemble, with the ethereal vocals of Songai featured on "Malika" and the title track.
