In his three suites of Ancient Airs and Dances, composed between 1920 and 1932, Respighi drew on 16th- and 17th-century lute music to bring the sound of the Italian Renaissance and Baroque back to life, with finely balanced orchestration that stands apart from the massive late-Romantic style. Remastered by Emil Berliner Studios using purely analogue techniques, pressed on 180g virgin vinyl by Optimal and housed in a deluxe gatefold.
