Stan Getz - Focus - Verve Vault Series LP
$27.99
Verve Vault Series, 180g Vinyl, Mastered from Analog Tapes
Focus, released in 1961 on Verve, stands as a singular entry in saxophonist Stan Getz's discography — a chamber-jazz suite composed and arranged by Eddie Sauter, with Getz as its sole improviser. Recorded at Webster Hall in New York with a string orchestra conducted by Hershy Kay, Getz's parts were entirely improvised in single takes. A radical departure from the era's "jazz with strings" albums, it was the artist's favorite of all the records he made.
