In 2001 The Black Crowes released Lions, their sixth studio album — thirteen songs written by Chris and Rich Robinson that pushed the record into the Top 20. It's home to soon-to-be Crowes staples "Lickin'," "Soul Singing" and "Cosmic Friend," and its hard rock influences run from Led Zeppelin to the R&B- and funk-infused styles of the late '60s.

Produced by Don Was and recorded in New York City, the sessions featured Chris Robinson on lead vocals, Rich Robinson on lead guitar, bass and piano, Don Was on bass, Audley Freed on guitar and Steve Gorman on drums. Friday Music celebrates 25 years of the album with a first-time-ever Clear Orange Crush pressing, mastered from the Melody Catalog tapes by Joe Reagoso at Friday Music Studios.
