Fans first heard this performance through a stunning "Hear My Train A Comin'" on 1971's Rainbow Bridge and an electrifying "Johnny B. Goode" on 1972's Hendrix: In the West, and the 1971 film Jimi Plays Berkeley added extracts of "Purple Haze" and "Star Spangled Banner". Magic Boy gathers the whole set: new songs "Ezy Ryder" and "Freedom" before they were finished in the studio, "Message to Love" and "Machine Gun" from the recent Band of Gypsys album, and high-intensity Experience favorites like "Fire" and "Voodoo Child (Slight Return)", all newly remixed by Eddie Kramer from the original multi-track tapes.
