Originally released in 1987 on Island Records, Frank's Wild Years is Tom Waits' 10th studio album. Titled for a play of the same name authored by Waits and his wife Kathleen Brennan and performed by Chicago's Steppenwolf Theatre Company in 1986, the album is an iteration of the track "Frank's Wild Years" from Waits' 1983 album Swordfishtrombones. Billed as "un operachi romantico," Waits' vocal character varies wildly across the work, from gruff and growly to impeccable Sinatra-esque phrasing on the Vegas number "Straight To The Top." Newly remastered for the first time from the original 1/2" flat master tape, personally overseen by Tom Waits and Kathleen Brennan.
