Released in December 1959, The Cats is a hard-bop summit featuring John Coltrane on tenor sax, Tommy Flanagan on piano, Kenny Burrell on guitar and Idrees Sulieman on trumpet, with Doug Watkins on bass and Louis Hayes on drums, playing mostly Flanagan-penned tunes. This Original Jazz Classics edition is pressed on 180-gram vinyl at RTI with all-analog mastering from the original tapes by Kevin Gray at Cohearent Audio, presented in a tip-on jacket.
