Wayne Shorter - Odyssey of Iska - Tone Poet LP
$38.99
180g Vinyl, Tone Poet Audiophile Reissue — Deluxe Tip-On Jacket
Recorded in August 1970, Odyssey of Iska was the last release of Wayne Shorter's early Blue Note period, made as he left Miles Davis' group and edged toward founding Weather Report. A tribute to his daughter Iska, its four immersive Shorter compositions evoke shifting moods — "Wind," "Storm," "Calm," and "Joy" — alongside the Brazilian-influenced centerpiece "De Pois do Amor, o Vazio." Shorter's soprano and tenor are the album's only horns, backed by Gene Bertoncini, David Friedman, Ron Carter, Cecil McBee, and a trio of percussionists.
