Rega - Planar 6 RS AFC Turntable with Ania MC Cartridge & Fono MC Phono Stage

The Planar 6 RS as a complete moving coil package — the Ania moving coil cartridge factory-fitted and the Fono MC phono stage supplied in the box, at the same price as the Nd9 version.

Rega introduced the AFC (Ania Fono Combination) in July 2026 as a second new option for the Planar 6 RS Edition. It is built on exactly the same turntable, but substitutes the Nd9 moving magnet cartridge for Rega's Ania moving coil and adds the Fono MC Mk4 moving coil phono stage in the box. Rega's own framing is that the Fono MC is bundled at a heavily discounted rate, giving you everything needed to run moving coil in a single purchase.

That matters because a moving coil cartridge needs a phono stage that can handle it. An amplifier with a suitable MC input can take the Ania directly, but an amp with only line-level inputs or a moving magnet phono stage cannot — and the AFC package supplies the necessary signal amplification as part of the deal.

The turntable underneath is unchanged from the Planar 6 RS Edition. The RB880 tonearm from the Planar 8 replaces the RB330, factory-fitted and expertly aligned. The drive system runs a CNC twin drive machined aluminium pulley with two Reference EBLT belts rather than one. The plinth keeps the Tancast 8 foam core and HPL construction with the RS brushed aluminium metal skin and matching edging, and the 16mm dual layer Optiwhite platter carries over. The custom-matched Neo MK2 PSU is included and hand-tuned to the motor.
