Newly Remastered Live Recording — From the Original Master Tapes
Note: This record does not include the RSD hypesticker.
Widely hailed as the founding fathers of funk, The Meters laid down the blueprint for groove-heavy music that still echoes through hip-hop, rock, and soul. Although the New Orleans quartet was never officially captured live during its 1969–1977 run, this performance — long misattributed to a New Orleans club in 1976 — has been confirmed as a 1975 set at San Francisco's Great American Music Hall. Newly remastered from the original ¼" master tapes, it captures the band in their prime, including material not heard before.
