Lovage finds Toronto's Taylor Kirk refining his craft after years working as a producer. Developed in close collaboration with Michael Dubue at his Quyon, Quebec studio, the album blends the lush melodicism of Brian Wilson with the melancholy of Leonard Cohen, plus touches of Sun Ra, Alice Coltrane and Italian songcraft. The result is a cinematic, subtly synth-tinged record laced with the band's signature deadpan wit, heard right from opener "Ask the Community."
