Wireworld - Matrix 2-US Shielded Power Cord Extender

A shielded, star-wired outlet block fed by a detachable IEC inlet — so one good power cord can serve components whose own cables are captive. Passive: no filtering, no surge protection, no circuitry.

The problem this solves is specific. You buy a good power cord, and then discover that half your equipment has a captive mains lead moulded into the chassis with nowhere to plug the cord in. The Matrix takes an IEC inlet on one end, so any Wireworld cord plugs into it, and presents a bank of ordinary outlets on the other. Your captive-cable components plug into those, and the cord you bought is now doing something for them.

Inside it is OFC star wiring — each outlet fed from a common point rather than daisy-chained from the one before it, so no outlet sits downstream of another’s current draw — in a shielded and grounded aluminium chassis. Rack mounting brackets are included.

Be clear about what it is not. There is no filtering, no surge protection, no MOV, no breaker and no active circuitry of any kind published anywhere for this product, by Wireworld or by any dealer. It is a passive distribution block in a shielded case. If you want surge protection, this is not it and you should buy something that is.

It is a current Wireworld product, not a retired one.

One honesty note on the specification. Wireworld’s own page does not state the outlet count, the current rating or the dimensions. Several independent dealers consistently describe six NEMA 5-15 outlets and give dimensions around 17-5/8 by 2-1/2 by 1-3/4 inches for rack fitting — that agreement across sources is worth something, but it is dealer information rather than Wireworld’s, and we have labelled it that way below. • Warranty: Wireworld publishes a Limited Lifetime Warranty against manufacturing defects to the original purchaser, with damage from abuse or wear excluded. That is essentially the whole published policy — there is no itemised exclusions list, no claims procedure and no statement about transferability, though the phrase “to the original purchaser” implies it does not transfer.
