Another great vintage Arizona music CD from Arizona Music historians, John Dixon and Dan Nowicki. 31 twangy guitar tracks and vocals by Arizona's great unknown guitar hero. Cole played uncredited guitar on many sessions, at times in the style of Duane Eddy, and gained national exposure with his bass playing wife, Alleyne as Don and Alleyne Cole. Their soulful cover of "Somethings Got A Hold On Me" was heard on many radio stations across the country in 1964 with enough success to spawn a live album recorded in Scottsdale, AZ for Vee Jay Records. When Lee Hazlewood was at Audio Recorders, he called on Cole when he wanted a "Twangy" Duane sound or as a featured guitarist when Al Casey was not available. This album includes Cole's work with The Rio Rockers, The Gigolos, Bob Taylor, Tony Castle and The Raiders, Bud Spudd, Ritchie Hart, The Roustabouts and more. This long overdue Digipak package includes a great 28 page booklet with extensive liners by Dan Nowicki and lots of pictures and vintage labels. Cole died at the early age of 35, never achieving the success he longed for. Now you can learn and hear the full story. Due to licensing restrictions, not all of his great recordings are in this package, but they are all covered in the notes, and those recordings are available in other packages. Released July 2018 on SewSiouxMee SSM 413. Very Limited Edition.
