Originally released in 1975 on Alegre Records, Sabor is a one-of-a-kind salsa album that made Angel Canales a star and is cherished to this day as an Afro-Caribbean classic. Canales introduces his players one by one on the opening cut "Sabor los Rumberos Nuevos," waxes poetic about his nostalgia for Puerto Rico on the mega-hit "Lejos de Ti," and sings about a colorful Nuyorican character on the simmering "Perico Macona."
