There's a Trumpet in My Soul is the 1975 album from avant-garde tenor saxophonist Archie Shepp, recorded that April at Sound Ideas Studio in New York City. The record is built from two three-part suites plus the ten-minute "Down in Brazil," with Shepp backed by a stellar group that swells to 13 pieces, including Ray Draper (tuba), Charles Greenlee (trombone), Dave Burrell (piano) and Jimmy Garrison (bass). Reissued on vinyl for the first time since 1979, it was mastered by Dave Gardner and pressed on audiophile-grade vinyl at Pallas in Germany.
