Best known as a member of Brand Nubian, Grand Puba delivered his second solo album, 2000, in 1995. It reached No. 5 on the US Top R&B/Hip-Hop Albums chart and earned four mics from The Source, spawning the singles "I Like It (I Wanna Be Where You Are)" and "A Little of This." The album pairs tough drums and bass with smooth soul samples and interpolations drawn from DeBarge, Barry White, The Delfonics, Rose Royce, and The Stylistics.
