Philadelphia-born guitarist Kurt Rosenwinkel is best known for his recordings on the Verve label. Released in 1998, Intuit was his second album as a leader and his only one recorded for the Criss Cross label. A quartet session devoted entirely to standards, it reveals the depth of the guitarist's expertise in the bop idiom, backed by pianist Michael Kanan, bassist Joe Martin, and drummer Tim Pleasant.
