Ortofon - MC Vertex MC Phono Cartridge
Ortofon's new flagship — the Vertex diamond on a laser-polished solid diamond cantilever, in an SLM titanium body. A new level of precision.
Developed and manufactured by Ortofon, MC Vertex reflects a holistic approach to cartridge design — conceived as a unified structure where the newly developed Vertex diamond, materials, and mechanical and magnetic design are specified in direct relation to one another. The Vertex diamond's advanced line-contact geometry pairs a finely optimized 4 μm scanning radius with an exceptionally large 110 μm contact radius, tracing fine groove structures with high precision while distributing contact forces across the groove walls. It's mounted via laser-cut microbore into a solid diamond cantilever for extremely rigid, lightweight energy transfer. The housing is produced in SLM titanium with DLC surface treatment, and Ortofon's patented Wide Range Damping system — a platinum disc between two rubber compounds — controls resonance across the audible range. High-purity silver coils on a non-magnetic armature deliver 30 dB channel separation and remarkable channel balance of 0.1 dB.
