Basie Jam is two sides of some of the best swing ever recorded, produced by Norman Granz for Pablo Records. This late-1973 session features the Count with an eight-piece band, and as the title indicates it plays like a jam session with all tracks built around the blues. A highlight is Basie's organ playing — after a classic piano intro, "Doubling Blues" swings like mad before he switches to organ. With only five tracks across nearly 50 minutes, the musicians get plenty of room to stretch out.
