Originally released in 1959, Ben Webster and Associates marked the last of Norman Granz's ventures pairing tenor saxophone icons Ben Webster and Coleman Hawkins, joined here by veteran Budd Johnson on the same horn alongside Roy Eldridge (trumpet), Les Spann (guitar), Jimmy Jones (piano), Ray Brown (bass), and Jo Jones (drums). The program features two standards—"Time After Time" and Ellington's "In a Mellow Tone"—plus three Webster originals. Part of the Verve Acoustic Sounds Series, this all-analog remaster is pressed on 180-gram vinyl in a deluxe gatefold jacket.
