Although Crosby, Stills & Nash had been together for well over a decade by the time Daylight Again arrived in 1982, it was only their third studio album of new material, and it went platinum. The project began as a collaboration between Stephen Stills (guitar, banjo, keyboards, percussion, vocals) and Graham Nash (guitar, keyboards, percussion, vocals) while David Crosby was deep in drug dependency; Crosby was ultimately included, and his hauntingly lyrical "Delta" stands as one of his finest contributions. The addition of the Eagles' Timothy B. Schmit and CSN bandmate Mike Finnigan on vocals throughout tells you much about the state of the trio at the time.
The best-known material here is Graham Nash's "Wasted on the Way" and "Southern Cross," composed by Michael and Richard Curtis with Stephen Stills. Both were pulled as singles and became among the most familiar tracks not just on Daylight Again but in the entire post-'60s CSN canon. This edition is part of "75 for 75," the Analogue Productions Atlantic 75 Series celebrating the 75th anniversary of Atlantic Records; the hybrid disc carries a stereo SACD layer plus a Red Book stereo CD layer, so it plays in any conventional CD player as well.
