Dexter Gordon - Landslide - Tone Poet LP
180g Vinyl LP, Blue Note Tone Poet Audiophile Reissue, Mastered by Kevin Gray
Dexter Gordon experienced a career renaissance with his momentous comeback on Blue Note in the early 1960s. In 1980, producer Michael Cuscuna compiled Landslide from previously unreleased tracks the legendary saxophonist had recorded for the label across three sessions in 1961-62, with a varied cast including Tommy Turrentine, Kenny Drew, Sonny Clark, Paul Chambers, Ron Carter, and Philly Joe Jones. The seven-song set showcases Gordon's hard-swinging improvisational creativity and brilliant balladry. This Tone Poet edition was produced by Joe Harley and mastered by Kevin Gray from the original analog master tapes.
