Rio is Duran Duran's second studio album, originally released in 1982 on EMI. The band embraced new experimentation — from vibraphone and marimba to a saxophone solo on the title track — across a set of fast, upbeat synth-pop and new wave numbers balanced by a couple of synthesiser-based ballads. Patrick Nagel's cover artwork, designed by Malcolm Garrett to resemble 1950s cigar packaging, is considered one of the greatest of all time.
