RSD Essentials indie-exclusive reissue of Gary Bartz's 1976 spiritual-jazz session Ju Ju Man, on sky blue 180-gram vinyl.
By 1976 Gary Bartz had played with Miles Davis, Art Blakey's Jazz Messengers, and his own funk-fired NTU Troop. Recorded for the West Coast Catalyst label, Ju Ju Man pairs his alto, soprano, and clarinet with a tight rhythm section across Coltrane tributes, a swinging Ellington ballad, and a velvet "My Funny Valentine" featuring Syreeta on vocals — one of the great understated spiritual jazz records of its era. This RSD Essentials indie-exclusive edition is pressed on sky blue 180-gram vinyl.
