John Coltrane - Meditations - Verve Vault LP

180 Gram Vinyl, All-Analog Mastering from the Original Tapes, Pressed at Optimal

Released in 1966 on Impulse!, Meditations catches John Coltrane's group mid-transition — the classic quartet of McCoy Tyner, Jimmy Garrison and Elvin Jones joined by tenor saxophonist Pharoah Sanders and drummer Rashied Ali. Recorded November 23, 1965 at Rudy Van Gelder's studio with producer Bob Thiele, the suite-like program pushes Coltrane's spiritual jazz into denser, freer, more transcendent territory. This Verve Vault Series edition is cut all-analog from the original tapes.
