Sir Georg Solti - Strauss: An Alpine Symphony - Decca Pure Analogue Series LP
Decca Pure Analogue Series — Hand-Numbered, Limited Edition 180g Virgin Vinyl LP
Few orchestral works demand precision engineering as much as Richard Strauss's An Alpine Symphony. This Decca recording by Sir Georg Solti and the Symphony Orchestra of the Bavarian Radio was made in 1979, among the last Decca analogue productions before the switch to digital. Solti knew Strauss personally and studied the composer's own recording before taping this performance in Munich. The original ¼-inch two-track stereo tapes were mastered by Rainer Maillard and cut by Sidney C. Meyer at Emil Berliner Studios.
