Rega - Elicit MK5 Integrated Amplifier

$3,395.00

The only Rega integrated with published power into 8, 6 and 4 ohms — 105, 127 and 162 watts.

If you have speakers with a difficult impedance load, the Elicit Mk5 is the Rega integrated to look at, and for a specific reason: it is the only one in the range for which Rega publishes power into all three of 8, 6 and 4 ohms. 105 watts, 127 watts and 162 watts respectively. Everywhere else in the range you are working with partial data.

It is comprehensively equipped. Four line-level inputs plus a switchable Direct input and a record input; a moving magnet phono stage; and a DAC built on a Wolfson S/PDIF receiver and Wolfson DAC with a discrete line-driver circuit, taking 16 to 24-bit at up to 192kHz through optical and coaxial inputs.

The headphone stage is a serious one, delivering 11.5V unloaded, 8.1V into 300 ohms and 3.6V into 32 ohms from a 109 ohm source impedance. Preamp output is 760mV and record output 196mV. Volume runs through an Alps potentiometer, and the Solaris system remote is supplied — another case where Rega’s own product page feature list omits the remote and the manual confirms it.

As with the Elex, Rega warns that sustained high-level use into 6 ohms or less can push the case more than 40°C above ambient and trigger thermal shutdown. Worth knowing if you plan to drive 4-ohm speakers hard.
