The TP 160 is the tonearm that transformed Thorens' current generation — the arm fitted to the TD 1600, TD 1601, and TD 404 DD — now available on its own for your custom arm board or restoration project. Designed by Helmut Thiele, its classic nine-inch J-shaped geometry rides a precision knife-edge (cutter) bearing, magnetically stabilized for maximum tracking accuracy with essentially frictionless vertical movement.
The standard SME bayonet connector means headshells and cartridges swap in seconds, making it as practical for the collector who rotates pickups as it is for the purist chasing one perfect setup. Vintage Thorens restorers, custom plinth builders, and anyone upgrading a deck with a standard SME-geometry mount: this is the modern arm with the classic soul.
