Alhaji K. Frimpong's 1977 Highlife masterpiece melds traditional Ghanaian musical forms with experimental instrumentation and innovative arrangements. The Black Album expands the electronic elements and features the visionary "Hwehwe Mu Na Yi Wo Mpena," while the real gem is the extended, quarter-hour groove of "Adam Nana" on the B side. Never distributed internationally, original copies are extremely rare, and even the limited 2011 reissue commands high prices.
