Benny Carter was one of the most consistent of saxophonists, and nowhere is that more obvious than on Further Definitions, his 1961 Impulse! album produced by Bob Thiele. Effectively a revisiting of his 1937 Paris recordings, it reunites the same four-saxophone, piano, guitar, bass, and drums lineup for an inspired repertoire played to perfection, including two of Carter's best-known compositions, Blue Star and Doozy.
