Beasts of No Nation, originally released in 1989, is a searing indictment of the corruption and repression in post-colonial Africa. Fela names a variety of targets he accuses of enslaving Africans — the Nigerian regime, South Africa's apartheid leader P.W. Botha, Britain's Margaret Thatcher, America's Ronald Reagan and the ineffectual United Nations — several of whom are depicted as beasts and devils on the front sleeve.
