On White Rabbit, CTI boss and producer Creed Taylor set George Benson amid lavish Spanish-tinged arrangements by Don Sebesky. The title track stays compelling even as an instrumental, "California Dreaming" turns warm and relaxed through its Andalusian harmonies, and the closer "El Mar" features some of Benson's most inspired playing. This was Benson's first release on CTI and the recording debut of guitarist Earl Klugh, with Herbie Hancock on Rhodes and Ron Carter on bass.
