The eleventh studio album from Glasgow's Mogwai takes its title from a working-class Glaswegian term for Hell, reflecting a difficult time for members of the band. New collaborator John Congleton (Explosions in the Sky, Sigur Rós, John Grant) produces, and his touch is felt across singles "God Gets You Back," "Fanzine Made of Flesh," and "Lion Rumpus." As ever, Mogwai's music is hard to describe but easy to experience: punishing volume shot through with an updraft of beauty.
