Formed in Leeds by guitarist Gary Marx and vocalist Andrew Eldritch in 1980, The Sisters Of Mercy released their first full length album First and Last and Always in March 1985. The culmination of five years of independent releases, whilst building up a large cult following, their debut album reached Number 14 the UK charts, by which time the band featured Wayne Hussey on guitar and Craig Adams on bass, both of whom would later leave the band to form The Mission. Originally signing to Warners in 1984, the album was preceded by three EPs: Body & Soul, Walk Away and No Time to Cry.
Pressed on limited edition black and red marble vinyl to celebrate the 40th anniversary of this iconic, landmark release.
"Copied to death, its brilliance has never been replicated. Indeed, the entire album remains unequaled in the genre, permanently granted top place on a pedestal from which it cannot be toppled."
