Released by Motown's subsidiary Tamla Records in 1967, Smokey Robinson & the Miracles' Make It Happen features ballads such as the hit singles "The Love I Saw in You Was Just a Mirage" and "More Love." "Tears of a Clown," co-written by Stevie Wonder and Hank Cosby, was later issued as a single and hit #1 on both the Billboard Hot 100 and the UK Singles Chart, prompting the album's 1970 reissue as The Tears of a Clown.
