180 Gram Vinyl, Remastered by Ray Staff at Air Mastering, London
Drummer Stan Levey earned his place in jazz history through his pioneering bebop work with Charlie Parker and Dizzy Gillespie, before becoming a fixture of the West Coast scene with the Lighthouse All-Stars and the Los Angeles studios. A self-taught player who handled the breakneck tempos of the modern style with ease, Levey leads his own sextet here on Grand Stan, originally issued on Bethlehem in 1957.
