Wyatt Flores- Life Lessons - 12" EP
Neon Lime color vinyl
An Oklahoma troubadour whose earthy storytelling has earned him a national following, Wyatt Flores pulls from a mix of country, rock, pop, and folk. His gritty early singles reflected his experience as a Mexican American growing up on the outskirts of Stillwater and brought him to the attention of Island Records. Flores made his major-label debut with a pair of EPs in 2023's Life Lessons and 2024's Half Life. His first full-length, Welcome to the Plains, appeared in late 2024, making the Top 40 of the Country Albums chart. Flores built on his success with a 2025 concert album, Live at Cain's Ballroom, recorded in Tulsa.
Music was a central element of Flores' upbringing. His father was a working drummer in the red dirt country music scene, and he grew up listening to a range of native Oklahomans from Garth Brooks to All American Rejects. By the time he was playing his own songs in local bars, he cited the influence of singer/songwriters like Tyler Childers and Jason Isbell as models for honest, country-rooted storytelling. When he was 19, he dropped out of college and began releasing singles online while working at a local ranch. Stripped-down acoustic tracks like "Travelin' Kid" and "Please Don't Go" found significant streaming success and he released his first EP, The Hutson Sessions, in 2022. Encouraged, Flores made a move to Nashville and began working with a management company that eventually helped him sign a major-label deal. Backed by Island, he issued the poignant "Holes" in 2023, which explored the "cycle of poverty" in his family's history. It was included on his label debut, the seven-song Life Lessons EP, that November. A follow-up EP, Half Life, appeared the following April. Bolstered by singles like "Running Out of Time" and "How to Save a Life," it rose to 11 on Billboard's Top Heatseekers chart. Flores also joined Arizona singer/songwriter Evan Honer on his 2024 single "Take Me as I Come." All of this built up to the October release of his debut album, Welcome to the Plains. Produced by Beau Bedford, the LP was a critical and commercial success, reaching 38 on the Top Country Albums chart. While touring in support of it, Flores recorded a hometown show in Tulsa which was released in early 2025 as Live at Cain's Ballroom. ~ Timothy Monger
