The AT-VM760xSL tops Audio-Technica's current VMx series, the latest evolution of the company's dual moving magnet cartridge line, designed to deliver warmth and realism with an expansive soundstage. Two magnets are matched to the left and right channels of the stereo groove, driving a paratoroidal coil construction with two stacked coils per channel. Upgraded PCUHD (Pure Copper Ultra High Drawability) wire replaces standard copper, and slightly reduced coil turns improve transient response over the previous generation, while a center shield plate reduces crosstalk between channels.

The Special Line Contact stylus traces the groove with extreme accuracy and minimal record wear, extending frequency response to 30,000 Hz. It is mounted on a 0.28 mm solid boron cantilever that transmits signals about 2.5 times faster than aluminum. The die-cast aluminum body damps vibration, threaded inserts allow two-screw mounting with no nuts, and the stylus protector features a V-cut for quick position reference.
